Client:
Alumnae and Alumni of Vassar College
Project:
Design and develop a new "look and feel" for
all of the alumnae/i association's websites, with consistent global
navigation and easy-to-use interface for alumnae/i of various ages
and levels of computer expertise; build all sites, working with staff
members to update, reorganize and expand content; provide new design
templates to third-party vendor and work closely with vendor to ensure
seamless integration of vendor-hosted pages with association-hosted
pages.
Role:
Sole designer and developer of majority of
site, including page templates and most content pages, using
Dreamweaver,
Fireworks, Photoshop, Witango Development Studio and Press Publisher.
Worked closely with staff to obtain and create content for website
pages.
Challenges faced:
Setting and following a development timeline
for an internal client, which was impacted by staff absences
or other vital work of the alumnae/i association, beta tester availability,
and third-party vendor development schedule; unexpected necessary
upgrade of web server (hardware and software) in midst of final
development phase; maintaining existing websites throughout development
period.
