Custom-designed soft-skills
training course for Amdahl's internal management staff, which subsequently
won a Silver Medal
Award for
instructional
design at the 2001 Online Learning Magazine/Brandon Hall Excellence
in E-Learning Awards.
Role:
Supporting web designer (intern). Developed
scenario-based Flash animations; searched for photographs of people
used in course
scenarios;
manipulated and optimized images in Photoshop and Illustrator;
used Fireworks to develop page-through interactivities ("FlipBooks");
coded part of course in HTML, using proprietary DigitalThink tools.
Challenges faced:
Learning new tools and techniques rapidly to
meet deadlines while working just three days a week as an intern;
ensuring that Flash
animations (developed using Flash 4) were Flash 2 compatible to meet
Amdahl's computer requirements.
